9 days

So, I bit the bullet and bought the hydrangeas.

Flowers - tick, so happy. Also ordered roses, lisianthus, alstroemeria, blue gum, billy buttons and everlasting daisies.

Discovered my first not-so-good purchase. Earrings. They are beautiful and shiny and gorgeous but I have worked out why I don't wear dangly earrings. One of my ears is slightly lower than the other. Weird. The earrings make it really obvious - ok - maybe just to me. Anyway, I had earrings and a necklace that belonged to my Nana as a back up. They've just been cleaned up and have come up nicely so I'll wear them instead.

Procrastinating on the last job of the night - putting place cards into envelopes for each table. Best get on with it.

You never know, if I keep this up I might get more than 5 minutes to relax next week!

10 days!

BM gifts - tick
Seating - tick

My beautiful BM and sister found hydrangea plants with flowers at a nursery, now, even though everyone says they don't flower until December - ok so we'd have to buy a couple of whole plants... is it worth it? Then I could really have these beauties....

11 days - 279 hours

Gah! It just keeps getting closer and there's nothing like a countdown timer to reinforce the feeling! That is a good thing, I'm looking forward to it. I just wish everything else would stop and wait for two weeks!

Had a lovely hens weekend. Nothing too wild, just some good food, good drinks and good friends. Heard all about A's bucks (or what he could remember) - I think there's meant to be rules about not sharing stories but they've never applied in this household so no reason they should start now!

Possibly even more excitingly A came home without a suit/shirt/tie but with one being altered in Melbourne and all the other bits and pieces being held ready to pick up this coming weekend! It's grey with a bluey pinstrip I think, from the dodgy mobile phone photo. Whatever, it looked great on him and his two groomsmen so ....woo hoo! Who said you needed to be organised about these things?

So, the list looks a bit better after the weekend. I still haven't done that marking though!

  • Finalize seating
  • Work out what flowers and how many to order - tick (sort of, the lady I need to order from is on hols for a couple of days but I have worked out what I need to order). Three minds are definately better than one when doing these things!
  • Get A a suit. Yes, you read that right. He still does not have a suit! - tick!
  • Buy bridesmaid gifts - any ideas people? - half tick, sale at the jewelers tomorrow. I will be there!
  • Finalize music
  • Finalize ceremony
  • Get A to organise transport for beer - tick!
  • Email a trillion people
  • Pay photographer + venue
  • Hire umbrellas (just in case)
  • Work out what is going on top of the cake - tick!
  • Do something about a guest book - half tick - have worked it out, just have to do it
  • Buy parents presents - again, any ideas?

Little packages of goodness

Over the last week I've been getting mail.

Exciting, beautiful, Etsy mail! Oh, if I had a larger bank balance.

My hair flowers arrived...

And a bracelet...

Just waiting on some earrings now!

Still on the to do list...
  • Finalize seating
  • Work out what flowers to order (and how many - erm, if you are getting married and have this grand idea of doing your own flowers, listen to your mother when she tells you you are crazy. She's more than likely right. She has been before and, no doubt, will be again)!
  • Get A a suit. Yes, you read that right. He still does not have a suit!
  • Buy bridesmaid gifts - any ideas people?
  • Finalize music
  • Finalize ceremony
  • Get A to organise transport for beer
  • Email a trillion people
  • Pay photographer + venue
  • Hire umbrellas (just in case)
  • Work out what is going on top of the cake
  • Do something about a guest book
  • Buy parents presents - again, any ideas?
That's nearly as many jobs as there are days left and I'm sure I've forgotten something!

15 days?????

Surely not? Where the hell did the last 15 go?

Can I just say that I am absolutely amazed by people who managed to blog regularly all the way up to their wedding day. Absolutely amazed!

A lot has happened in the last 15 days. It's been a bit of a roller coaster. I've had the low of saying goodbye to my beautiful grandmother next to the high of A having a pretty darn good win at poker. Although, I'd swap the money for having grandma at the wedding any day of the week. She held on long enough for me to visit and talk to her after I got home from Japan and for that I'm eternally grateful.

In the midst of that sadness we got this fantatsic RSVP from a relative (on the other side of the family) which nearly had us crying with laughter and because I have tests to mark, phone calls to make and a house to clean I'll leave you with that for today.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
On November the 6th
We wanna party with you

P has new moccies
B, a new tatt
L has new thongs
Can’t go wrong with all that

But oh woe is us
We have to confess
We forgot to reply
Oh gosh what a mess

Please can we come
Please find us a table
To celebrate with
The new couple named ?*

Please send us a message
A “Yes” we do pray
To ensure the C family
Can share your great day

So this is the end
Of our little ditty
We certainly hope
That you’re not really shitty

* I guess you can tell that my new name is going to rhyme with 'table'!

RSVPs

RSVPs are slowly but surely coming in. It's so lovely, especially the people who have gone to the effort to post an acceptance card (we didn't include them in the invite). We've been so wrapped up in just getting things done that it's really nice to hear that other people are excited about the wedding too! Lots of warm fuzzies!

And now for some Japan happy snaps...

Part of my favourite place in Kyoto - Kiyomizu-dera.
Even in the rain with squelching wet shoes, I love it!

Watching our Maiko perform. Hard to believe she's just 16!

Getting excited about the Baseball - Go the Hiroshima Carp!

07 October 2010

One month to go!

This time this month I'll be Mrs A! Right now, sitting in a hotel foyer in Tokyo I feel like everything is under control. The nearly two weeks away from planning has been great. It's easy for me, being the indecisive type, to spend hours considering options for cakes, placecards, don't even get me started on flowers that being out of the country and away from the planning has been really effective in getting things done! My beautiful BMs have dresses, my sister has organized most of the flower vases and bits and pieces and I even think that A has got through most of the jobs I left him!

On another topic I love Japan! Have done so much this trip that I haven't on others. Met a real live Maiko, went to the Ghibli Museum, my first ever baseball game - go the Carps! Who would have though baseball would be so exciting! Two days to go. Lots of shopping to do. Lots of photos to show when I'm home and not blogging from an iPod!
